Featured Project: Our Award-Winning Whole-Home Remodel in Worthington

award-winning whole-home remodel in worthington

Our team took on this Worthington whole-home remodel from design through construction, and it earned us a 2025 NARI Regional and National Remodeler of the Year award in the Entire House $500,000 to $750,000 category.

The Challenge: A Dark 1960s Home on a Beautiful Lot

The house sits on a hill above a two-acre lot with a backyard pond, but from the inside, you’d never know it. Deep soffits and small windows kept the rooms dark and cut off from the view. A low, textured ceiling hung over the main living area, and a stacked stone fireplace wall with half walls chopped into separate pieces. Outside, the red brick and earth-toned trim blended into the trees. The homeowners wanted a modern home that stood out and matched the setting.

How We Transformed It

  • Opened it up. The main living area became one connected space under a vaulted ceiling with dark exposed beams.
  • Let the light in. Tall clerestory windows and a wide wall of sliding glass doors now frame the trees and open straight onto the deck.
  • Rebuilt the kitchen. White cabinetry, a dark wood-plank ceiling, statement pendants, a range hood, a pot filler and stainless double wall ovens.
  • Created a primary bath retreat. A dark-tile walk-in shower with a built-in bench, plus a dark vanity with a makeup station.
  • Gave the exterior a new face. Painted brick, a dark metal roof, board-and-batten siding and a covered entry with timber posts.

The Results

A home that finally lives up to its lot. Daylight fills the main floor, the family can see the yard from the kitchen and dining table, and the house that once disappeared into the trees now stands out on the hill. The project went on to win both regional and national honors from the National Association of the Remodeling Industry.

How Much Does It Cost to Remodel a House in Worthington?

Your cost depends on your scope: which rooms you’re remodeling, whether walls or plumbing are moving, and whether you’re adding square footage. For a sense of scale, here are the NARI price categories of our award-winning projects:

ProjectAward-winning project range
BathroomUnder $40k, $40k–$70k and $70k–$100k
Kitchen$100k–$150k and $150k–$200k
Home addition$250k–$500k
Entire house$500k–$750k

You don’t have to guess where your project lands. We give you rough ballpark numbers during your in-home consultation, then a written ballpark estimate at our office. Design typically costs about 3% of the project total. Before construction, you get a detailed estimate of every line item, like this sample estimate.

How Long Does a Home Remodel Take?

Plan for design and construction as separate stretches of time. Here’s what each stage of our process typically takes:

StageTypical time
Conceptual design (layouts, mood boards, 3D renderings)2 to 4 weeks
Design development (selections, construction documents)1 to 5 weeks
Permits and pre-construction meetingNot a set length; we submit for permit once your construction documents are done
Construction

1 to 4 months

Semi-custom and custom cabinets typically take 8 to 12 weeks to arrive after ordering, so we finalize selections during design, before the crew shows up. For a whole-home remodel, it’s best to start the conversation 6 to 12 months before you want to break ground.

Home Remodeling FAQs

What happens at the first consultation?

Our sales specialist comes to your home, walks the space with you and talks through your goals. During that visit, she’ll give you rough ballpark numbers for different ideas, take preliminary measurements and photos, and schedule your ballpark estimate review. The in-home consultation is complimentary.

Is $50,000 or $100,000 enough to renovate a house?

For a bathroom, it can be. Our bathrooms fall in the under $40k, $40k – $70k and $70k – $100k categories. Kitchens and full-house remodels take more: kitchens ranges from $100k – $200k, and entire-house remodels from $500k – $750k.

What is the most expensive part of a house to remodel?

Among our award-winning projects, kitchens ($100k to $200k) ran well above bathrooms (under $40k up to $100k). Larger projects cost more still: additions are in the $250k to $500k range, and entire-house remodels in the $500k to $750k range.

In what order should you remodel your house?

Make the structural decisions first: the floor plan, which walls move and where the wet areas go. Systems come next, like HVAC, electrical and plumbing. Finishes such as tile, cabinets, countertops and lighting come last. Choosing finishes before the layout is final often means choosing them twice.

Do I have to move out during a whole-home remodel?

Not necessarily. Some homeowners stay through construction, some move out, and some projects can be sequenced so you always have a working space. It’s worth talking through what the construction schedule means for your day-to-day life before work begins, and we’re happy to do that with you.
